Steps is Bodybound's under-desk tactile input board: thermo-ash body with tapered copper contact points, designed for seated use that gives the feet clearer signal at the soles.
Details
What it is
Steps is a wooden under-desk board with rows of tapered solid-copper contact points. It sits on the floor at the desk, and the soles meet structured texture instead of the same flat surface for hours of work.
Steps is the under-desk model. 8 mm is the launch configuration — the spacing that gives the clearest first signal while remaining controllable for seated use. 10 / 12 / 15 mm are progression options for later.
Materials
Body: Thermo-ash wood. Dark, stable hardwood used for the visual and structural foundation of the board.
Contact: Tapered solid copper points, set in rows across the board surface.
Form: Designed to sit on a floor at desk height, in everyday work spaces.
How to use
- Place the board under the desk where your feet land, copper points up.
- Rest your feet lightly on the board — barefoot or in light socks, whichever feels right.
- Begin seated. Add weight slowly. Move around the board: toes, heel, arch, edges.
- Keep first sessions short. The goal is useful perception at the soles, not endurance.
Once 8 mm feels familiar over weeks of use, the 10 / 12 / 15 mm progression options exist for users who want more contrast. They are not first-purchase alternatives.
Care
Wipe clean with a dry cloth. Store dry, off the floor when not in regular use. Keep away from sustained moisture.
Safety & use boundaries
Use on a dry, stable floor. Keep the board away from children and pets between sessions. Reduce weight, wear socks, or stop when the contact feels too sharp.
